+ Reference Sheet - Moxiv (vers. 1.0) by moxiv + Reference Sheet - Moxiv (vers. 1.0) by moxiv

[All About Mox]
Name - Moxiv (Mawk-siv)
Gender - Male
Age - Approximately 750 years old
Species - Hybrid (Specifically a black fox & brown-necked raven mix)
Elemental Affiliation - Spirit
Class - Augur/Theurgist

[About the Species]
Mox's species is a hybrid cross between any species or sub-species of the corvidae & vulpine families. Potential crosses for others of his kind are as follows:

Corvidae Species:
- Crows
- Ravens
- Rooks
- Jackdaws
- Jays
- Magpies
- Treepies
- Choughs
- Nutcrackers

Vulpine Species:
- Bengal fox
- Blanford's fox
- Cape fox
- Corsac fox
- Fennec fox
- Kit fox
- Pale fox
- Ruppell's fox
- Red fox (all color variations)
- Swift fox
- Tibetan sand fox

The corvidae are arguably the most intelligent sub-species of birds, as many have demonstrated self-awareness and tool-making abilities. Combined with the sharp, clever minds of vulpine subspecies, the hybrid mix that is Mox's species is another entity entirely.

Due to their esteemed bloodlines, they have developed a highly sophisticated form of speech, including a written language, though it is primarily symbolic. Also as a result of their avian counterparts, they possess strong, talon-like front legs and feet, allowing them to easily manipulate objects and even in some cases, various forms of magic. Despite their relations to birds, they do not possess wings and they cannot fly.

The species as a whole values knowledge over all things, and naturally the smarter an individual is, the more quickly they rise in the ranks of their chosen clan. Most have an affinity for a specific element, of which there are five in polite corvulpan society--Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Spirit. Many aspects of their culture are governed by the elemental forces, though despite being affiliated with one branch, all forms are worshipped equally.

At the time of birth, young are gifted with their own personal sigil. These are primarily more of a superstition than anything else, though it is said certain marks mean more than others. For example, marks that appear in a circular fashion usually belong to those destined to fall under the affiliations of Spirit, however this is also true for sigils of Water.

In terms of general appearence, all individuals possess avian front legs, and feathers in their long silky tails. It is also very common to see them adorned with jewelry, though it is usually never anything extravagent. Many pieces are hand-crafted out of simple materials such as bone, clay, and silver. Bird skulls, feathers, and pieces of glass are all common adornments worn by both genders.

Their diet mostly consists of fish, though they will hunt pheasant and other small game on occasion. They are never seen as scavengers, however, despite their avian lineage.

The more I look at this wonderful character, and the more I learn about corvids and foxes, the more I wish that this specie weren't closed ... He is simply looking amazing. And DAT TAIL! Try to imagiiiine how one would look if it was part grey crow. You have made an amazing specie design here.
Out of curiousity, when you say all subspecies of the vulpine family, does that also include the ones not on the list, such a the gray fox? And how many of his character traits, such as the white paw-pads and the orange claws, are how he looks, and how much is for every member of his specie?
Also, what does Mox run around and do, except for looking badass?

Thank you, Sasia! I'm so glad you've taken a liking to him [:

As far as your questions go, no, the list I have there for vulpine sub-species is not all-inclusive. There's a few (quite a lot, actually...) species I've neglected to name, not for any particular reason, only that that particular group is among the most commonly occuring.

As far as their specific design traits, typically every one of the species exhibits some form of unnatural coloring (Mox's color is orange) as a testament to their sentience. Where said unnatural coloring occurs is completely the fault of random genetics. Though, I suppose I should point out that given his standing within society, Mox's orange coloration is generally a bit brighter and more intense.

And to answer your final question, Mox is an augur [: In his society, the species is broken down into a myriad of different cultural classes. For example, Mox, because of his parentage, was born into magical ability, thus the sigils that occur on his tail. He was educated and mentored under a priest, who indirectly served one of the seven Reagent Lords (more about them in a sec.) After he came into his abilities, he quickly demonstrated prowess, and was awarded a the highest ranking positon in the royal court; an advisor to his Reagent Lord.

The continent his species exists within is divided into seven holds. Each is presided over by a Reagent Lord, or Lady. Beneath them, follows their advisor (usually a priest, an augur like Mox, or other magic user) the seven members of their royal guard, and then an assorted coalition of scholars and militia.

Advisors and the royal guard to the Reagents serve until they are killed, or they die by natural means. So, to sum it up, Mox essentially keeps watch over his Reagent, sending messages, thwarting assasination attempts, that sort of thing [:

Sorry for the book D: I hope that thoroughly answers your question, though! <3

Ah, I see ^^ That's neat, and I understand why you wouldn't list all the vulpines, as there's quite a lot of them ... I really like the idea of one unnatural colour and then the rest of them from their animals ^^

That is just cool, thanks for sharing! So it's only magic users who have sigils?
Oh, and one last question before I stop spamming you (ehehe ^^; ) do you allow fanart of this specie that isn't of Moxiv, but just, you know, corvulpae in general?
